Housed in a former contemporary art gallery, HEX Records and Books launches on Thursday 18 June at Via Antonio Stoppani 15C. Spread across two levels, the venue preserves its exhibition character and houses a record and book shop, a space for listening, discovery and conversation.
On the shelves, a curated selection of vinyl, cassettes and CDs focused on experimental and exploratory music, from historical and contemporary electronics to avant-garde jazz, improvisation, contemporary composition, sound art and ambient, with new releases, reissues, limited editions and a vintage section of out-of-print titles. Alongside, a bookshop on related themes: monographs, artist publications, magazines and exhibition catalogues, with attention to independent publishing.
Conceived in collaboration with Soundohm, HEX is not only a shop but a space of encounter, with a regular programme of presentations, listening sessions, meetings with artists and curators, and small concerts. The listening room is a project developed with Futura Research. Thanks to Imperfettolab for seats and design elements.
